One hour from when I am beginning to write this it will be one month til the time I am projected to take up wings to Africa!! Time has flown and is flying!! A lot has happened since my last post so here goes the update…
Since I last wrote, God has overwhelmed me with His provision and affirmation of my call to go care for the kids in Uganda! At that point I had a few hundred left to raise in order for me to leave in September…well GUESS WHAT…I AM GOING TO UGANDA!!!! A special thanks to all of you who are caring, encouraging, praying and supporting me and making this possible! Funds continue to come in on a regular basis and are going toward the project funds I have for needs while serving in Uganda such as a car, further medical training, supplies, etc. It is my hope that just as this process has been a huge telling-tale of God’s faithfulness and provision to me it would likewise be for you!! If you are interested to know ways you can contribute or help out let me know.
The benefit silent auction my friends organized for me this past week was a hit and a joy to have all of those who came out for it! Around $750 was raised that night and a good time was had by all! THANK YOU!!
I had my last shift at CHOP in the CICU this past Tuesday night
Bitter-Sweet…Bitter because I love those I work with, the kids, the families, and my co-workers. I love working in the ICU and especially the CICU
Sweet because it feels like the biggest step of faith and adventure yet toward actually going to care for the babies in Uganda!! It’s a lot more real these days…I am so excited and can’t wait to be there and begin caring for them all and sharing it with you all!! My co-workers surprised me with a cake and little treats that night and I was blessed by them! I will miss them and working there very much, but am excited for what is ahead.
I have completed the 5th of the Gordon Conwell Bible Courses now!! Praise God!!
Most of my house is packed up now and I am in the process of purchasing all of the things I need to take along now that I have gotten rid of or packed away what I do not need for the next 3 years…
I’ve begun the “see ya later” process by just spending some good quality time with family and close friends. I’ve been blessed over the past few weeks to have the opportunity to hang with my younger brother before he headed back to college and this coming week am looking forward to visiting my older brother, sisterinlaw, and niece and nephews to say my “See you laters” there as well
In addition I’ve been so blessed to have opportunities to hang with my best friends for brunches and spontaneous beach days and hang out times!
I had the chance to shadow an IV nurse at CHOP and glean from her experience and skills last week.
I’m continuing to work on and pray about the Ugandan nursing license and trusting that God, like all other things, is working out the details behind the scenes…
I’m continuing to work on and ask you to join with me in praying as I work on the project to wrap up my Perspectives class in the next two weeks…
I’ll check back in after my next two weeks of traveling to and from Philly, Kentucky, Indiana, Massachusetts, and D.C. before settling in for the remainder of my weeks stateside.
Thank you for your continued prayers, encouragement, and support! It is a joy to have you a part of this journey with me and it won’t be long before you’ll see the faces of those whom Christ is using you to impact and in whose broken lives His kingdom is beginning to break in and through and change…
Much love!
